How does the priming sugar calculator work?

It first works out how much CO₂ is already dissolved in your beer from its temperature, since warm beer holds less gas. It subtracts that residual CO₂ from your target carbonation, multiplies by your beer volume, and scales by the CO₂-per-gram of your chosen sugar to give the exact grams of corn or table sugar to add at bottling.

Why does beer temperature matter for priming?

Carbon dioxide is more soluble in cold liquid, so a cold beer already holds more residual CO₂ and needs less priming sugar, while a warm beer holds less and needs more. The tool uses the highest temperature your beer reached during conditioning — usually near the end of fermentation — because that sets how much CO₂ remains dissolved.

What's the difference between corn sugar and table sugar?

Corn sugar (dextrose) is the homebrew standard; table sugar (sucrose) yields slightly more CO₂ per gram, so you need about 9% less of it for the same carbonation. How many volumes of CO₂ should I target?
